Joseph Eichler was a real estate developer who, under his company Eichler Homes, developed and built many residential subdivisions of tract housing in California in the 50s and early 60s. Known as Eichlers, he built over 11,000 homes in 12 communities across Northern and Southern California. They are known for their post-and-beam construction and floor to ceiling glass, which gives a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living.
